Tazama and FNA Announce Strategic Partnership to Advance Global Fraud Detection and Payment System Resilience

SAN FRANCISCO, CA —Tazama, Tazama.org, a leading open-source initiative for real-time fraud detection and financial ecosystem security, a Linux Foundation Charities Project, is pleased to announce a new global partnership with Financial Network Analytics (FNA), a deep technology firm focused on making financial systems safer and more efficient.

As part of this collaboration, FNA will provide its Fraud Portal to Tazama implementers — a real-time, AI-powered, cross-rail and cross-bank utility used by financial institutions, regulators, and law enforcement to detect, trace, and prevent fraud and scams, and recover money on behalf of victims.

“Tazama’s mission is to equip governments, financial institutions, and payment platforms with open, secure, and scalable tools to fight fraud and build trust,” said Greg McCormick, Executive Director of Tazama at The Linux Foundation. “With FNA’s proven leadership in deploying national-scale anti-scam solutions, this partnership adds a powerful layer of intelligence to our collective toolbox.”

Their collaboration will help accelerate the adoption of fund tracing, recovery, and proactive fraud detection mechanisms — particularly in emerging markets where infrastructure and regulatory environments vary widely.

“Our mission is closely aligned with Tazama’s, and we’re excited to contribute to its open-source community and vision,” said Dr. Kimmo Soramäki, Founder and CEO of FNA. “By combining our Money Trails and real-time AI-driven fraud detection capabilities with Tazama’s real-time scenario-based detection capability, we can help institutions protect consumers by recovering stolen funds, preventing scams, and mitigating the systemic threats that undermine trust in financial services.”

FNA will also support Tazama’s broader educational and community-building efforts, including knowledge-sharing initiatives, workshops, and best practices for fraud detection and risk modeling.

Launched by the Gates Foundation, Tazama is building a global community of technologists, regulators, fintechs, and nonprofits focused on developing digital public goods for secure and inclusive finance — with a mission to detect fraud in transactions worldwide.
