Tazama Community Newsletter · Issue 1 · August 2026
Welcome to the very first edition of the Tazama Community Newsletter.
Each month, we’ll bring you the latest news from across the Tazama ecosystem, from product releases and technical innovation to community milestones, partner collaborations, and the people helping shape the future of open source fraud transaction monitoring.
This inaugural edition marks an exciting milestone with the launch of Tazama 4.0, our most significant release to date. It’s about the people, organisations, and partners working together to strengthen financial integrity and build safer, more inclusive digital payment ecosystems.
Welcome to the Tazama community.
Introducing Tazama 4.0
Payment ecosystems are evolving rapidly, bringing new opportunities alongside increasingly sophisticated fraud challenges. Organisations need technology that can adapt just as quickly while remaining open, collaborative, and scalable. That’s the vision driving Tazama 4.0.
Building on Tazama’s proven real-time transaction monitoring capabilities, version 4.0 expands the platform to support the broader fraud management lifecycle, from data onboarding and rule development to real-time detection, investigation, analytics, and operational management.
More than a software release, Tazama 4.0 reflects the collaboration, innovation, and shared expertise of a growing global community committed to strengthening financial integrity and preparing payment ecosystems for what comes next. It’s a new Case Management System, Rule Studio, Connection Studio, and Business Intelligence and Analytics Reporting (BIAR), built on a more resilient platform, across 68 active project repositories.

Tazama 4.0 at a Glance
Six capabilities make it easier to onboard data, strengthen fraud detection, investigate cases more effectively, and gain deeper operational insights, all within a more resilient and scalable platform.
Smarter Detection. Rule Studio lets teams author, version, clone, and test fraud detection rules from a UI, then simulate them against historical data before deploying, with an approve-then-deploy workflow to identify emerging fraud patterns faster.
Better Investigations. A new Case Management System gives investigators greater visibility into alerts and cases, including an Alert Navigator view of alert details and triggered rules, plus network views of transaction, counterparty, and account relationships, role-based permissions, SLA tracking, and SAR/STR filing workflows.
Smarter Data Onboarding. Connection Studio simplifies how organisations onboard and manage data, with configurable data mapping, transformation tools, and streamlined workflows.
Actionable Insights. Business Intelligence and Analytics Reporting (BIAR) transforms operational data into meaningful insights through a data lakehouse, analyst notebooks, and interactive reporting tools.
Built for Resilience. Significant platform improvements, including zero-downtime rule reloads, strengthen scalability, security, operational resilience, and multi-tenancy, making Tazama simpler to operate and maintain.
AI-Assisted Triage. The new Case Management System’s three-mode triage includes AI-assisted auto-triage alongside manual workflows, helping investigators prioritise which alerts need attention first.
New Partnership: Tazama and GASA
Tazama is proud to announce a new global partnership with the Global Anti-Scam Alliance (GASA), the world’s largest cross-sector coalition dedicated to fighting scams, uniting more than 100 member organisations spanning financial institutions, technology companies, law enforcement, and government bodies worldwide.
Where Tazama brings real-time, open source technology to detect and stop fraudulent transactions, GASA brings decades of advocacy, public awareness, research, and training to help people and institutions recognise and avoid scams before they happen. Together, the partnership connects end-to-end advocacy and technical protection, pairing GASA’s global education and policy work with Tazama’s real-time detection technology to help protect people and payment ecosystems worldwide.
Tazama is also currently engaging with GASA’s Global Signal Exchange (GSE), a cross-industry initiative through which organisations share threat intelligence to disrupt criminal infrastructure at scale. We’ll share more details on this collaboration in a future edition.
Community Spotlight
Collaboration That Creates Impact
One of the greatest strengths of the Tazama community is what happens when organisations come together to solve shared challenges.
Through a recent collaboration with Delta Analytics, the community delivered a new Rule Trigger Discovery notebook for BIAR, giving investigators alert-browsing tools and clear visibility into which rules and transactions triggered an alert, helping speed up investigations.
This is what’s possible when organisations contribute their expertise back to the community, building practical tools that strengthen the entire ecosystem.
Looking further ahead, the community is also exploring FraudClarity, an early-stage proof of concept for AI-assisted, conversational alert interpretation. It’s not part of the 4.0 release, and the deliverable is still in progress, but it’s a good look at where community innovation could take investigations next.
Because that’s the power of open source. When one organisation innovates, the whole community benefits.
