San Francisco, CA, 29 07 2025 — Tazama organization (www.tazama.org) which manages, a real-time fraud monitoring system built to strengthen digital financial ecosystems, has partnered with the Institute for Inclusive Digital Africa (IIDiA) to make financial systems across Africa safer and more inclusive.

This partnership, part of the Inclusive Payment Systems Project funded by the Gates Foundation—aims to empower financial institutions, regulators, and governments to combat fraud and foster trust across digital financial ecosystems.

Developed as a project of the Linux Foundation, Tazama offers real-time insights into transaction-level activity. It enables early detection and rapid response to fraud and scam attempts across national and institution payment platforms, equipping countries and financial institutions like banks and mobile money operators with critical infrastructure to protect users and strengthen trust in digital finance.

IIDiA will lead the regional rollout of Tazama’s tools across Africa. Leveraging its pan-African policy expertise, research network, and partnerships with governments and central banks, IIDiA will ensure that Tazama’s tools are localized, scalable, and aligned with national digital transformation agendas.

“IIDiA’s deep expertise in policy and inclusive innovation makes them the perfect partner for this work,” said Greg McCormick, Executive Director at Tazama. “Together, we’re making it possible to detect fraud faster, build trust in digital finance, and help vulnerable users feel safer online.”

“Fraud prevention is foundational to inclusive digital systems,” said Matthieu SOGLONOU, Executive Director at IIDiA. “Through this partnership, we’re enabling African stakeholders to embed safety, trust, and resilience into the core of their financial infrastructure.”

This collaboration supports a shared mission to close the financial access gap, particularly for populations historically excluded from formal financial systems.

As more governments and institutions work to reinforce their digital financial infrastructure, this partnership helps ensure that safety, trust, and inclusion remain at the heart of Africa’s digital transformation.
