Tazama Launches Version 4.0, Advancing Open Source Fraud Transaction Monitoring for Modern Payment Ecosystems

The latest release expands Tazama beyond real-time transaction monitoring with new capabilities for investigations, analytics, data onboarding, AI-assisted intelligence, and operational resilience, all within a single open source platform.

SAN FRANCISCO, CA – 27 July 2026 – Tazama today announced the release of Tazama 4.0, the most significant evolution of its open source platform to date. Building on its proven real-time transaction monitoring capabilities, Version 4.0 expands the platform to support the broader fraud management lifecycle, helping financial institutions, payment operators, central banks, and regulators identify, investigate, and respond to fraud more effectively.

Designed for modern payment ecosystems, Tazama 4.0 introduces new capabilities that simplify data onboarding, strengthen fraud detection, improve investigations, and provide deeper operational insight. The release brings together new Case Management, Rule Studio, Connection Studio, Business Intelligence and Analytics Reporting (BIAR), AI-driven intelligence, and a more resilient platform architecture within a single modular solution.

At the heart of Tazama remains its real-time transaction monitoring engine, which evaluates transactions in milliseconds using configurable rules and fraud typologies to identify suspicious activity before transactions are completed. Supporting ISO 20022, proprietary, and legacy message formats, the platform enables organisations to integrate with existing payment infrastructures while remaining adaptable to future payment technologies.

Version 4.0 introduces significant improvements to how organisations onboard, configure, and operate the platform. Connection Studio streamlines data onboarding through configurable mapping and transformation capabilities, while Rule Studio simplifies the creation, management, testing, and deployment of fraud detection rules. Together, these capabilities reduce implementation complexity and help organisations respond more quickly to evolving fraud threats.

The platform also introduces a new Case Management System that provides investigators with greater visibility into alerts, linked transactions, evidence, and investigation workflows. Combined with Business Intelligence and Analytics Reporting (BIAR), organisations can better understand fraud trends, monitor operational performance, and make more informed decisions through interactive dashboards and reporting.

Artificial intelligence further strengthens the platform by providing intelligent assistance across the fraud management lifecycle. AI-assisted capabilities support anomaly detection, help identify emerging fraud patterns, and assist investigators in prioritising alerts, enabling organisations to improve operational efficiency while maintaining transparency and human oversight.

Alongside these functional enhancements, Tazama 4.0 introduces significant improvements to platform resilience, scalability, security, and multi-tenancy.
